Our Religious Studies Curriculum makes a key and unique contribution to understanding values. RS provides opportunities for children to reflect and analyse, to discuss and debate, to explore and discover, and to learn more about the world in which we live. In the simplest terms, studying religion and belief is a part of a complete education because of the influence of religions and beliefs on individuals, culture, behaviour and national life.
Our RS curriculum will cover six of the world faiths, which are: Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism and Judaism. We explore the beliefs, practices and traditions for each of the religions and make comparisons. We also explore other worldviews beliefs, arguments and philosophies that approach questions of meaning and purpose without reference to belief, such as Humanism. This recognises that one of RS’ most important contributions is enabling all learners to explore questions of meaning, purpose and value.
